18 March 2026
Newton Group Ltd. will expand manufacturing capacity, strengthen domestic supply chains, and support over 95 jobs
Fergus, ON — The Ontario government is welcoming an investment of $17,606,235 by Newton Group Ltd. (Newton Group), a designer and manufacturer of pre-engineered modular structures, to expand their manufacturing capacity, diversify product offerings and reshore production, while retaining 85 positions and creating 12 new, good paying jobs in the region.
The investment was announced today by Joseph Racinsky, Member of Provincial Parliament for Wellington-Halton Hills.
“By supporting strategic investments from regional businesses, our government is protecting Ontario’s workers and creating the conditions for a strong, stable, and resilient economy that can weather any storm,” said MPP Joseph Racinsky. “The investment by Newton Group will support growth and innovation across the local manufacturing sector and create more good-paying jobs in the region.”
With this investment, Newton Group will expand its manufacturing facilities and begin producing rebar mesh, an essential component in modular construction. This investment will support the construction of a new 16,000 sq. ft. facility and the installation of automated rebar welding and pre-cast systems, increasing production capacity by up to 500%. It will also reshore rebar mesh production from Turkey and the United States to Ontario, strengthening domestic supply chains. The expansion will enhance the company’s ability to deliver innovative, cost-effective building solutions across key sectors.
“There is no doubt the government support in industry is driving our industrial growth forward. We need more industry, to create more things & build things, and make ourselves more efficient here in Ontario. This investment when completed with new workers trained allows us to triple our production capacity at this site for the housing and other construction needs enabling the construction of 50,000m2 per year of residential space.” Said Edwin Newton, CEO of Newton Group Ltd.
“Guelph continues to be a premier destination for innovation and industrial growth, and this $17.6 million investment by Newton Group is a testament to that,” said Guelph Mayor Cam Guthrie. “We are incredibly grateful for their commitment to our city and for the support from the Ontario government. These new, high-quality jobs and the expansion of our local manufacturing footprint strengthen our economy and ensure a bright future for Guelph’s hardworking families.”
In support of this investment, the government is providing Newton Group with $2,640,935 in funding through the Regional Development Program’s Southwestern Ontario Development Fund (SWODF).
“Employing more than 800,000 workers across the province, Ontario’s manufacturing sector is the economic engine of our nation,” said Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade. “Our government is proud to support local companies like Newton Group as they expand their operations, and we thank them for their contributions to Ontario’s dynamic and growing manufacturing ecosystem.”
Ontario is investing over $230 million through its Regional Development Program to help manufacturers across the province grow while supporting distinct regional priorities. To date, Ontario has supported more than 180 projects through the program, leveraging more than $2.6 billion in new investments and helping to create over 5,500 jobs.
