The Fergus Whalers defeated the Tavistock Braves in the Schmalz Cup, becoming Jr. C provincial champions
[Fergus, ON] – MPP Racinsky, along with Premier Doug Ford, were pleased to welcome the team to Queen’s Park in recognition of an outstanding season and a historic Schmalz Cup championship. The Whalers’ success is a reflection of the hard work and commitment of the players, coaches, staff, and volunteers who helped make this achievement possible.
The Fergus Whaler’s visited Queen’s Park to celebrate their winning season on June 2nd, 2026. The team, based in MPP Joseph Racinsky’s riding of Wellington-Halton Hills, was invited to celebrate their championship season.
On May 10th, the Fergus Whalers defeated the Tavistock Braves, bringing home the Schmalz cup for the first time in their three-year franchise history. The team exhibited a dominant playoff run, winning almost all their playoff games. They faced every challenge head-on, leaning on each other and never letting up, and it paid off with an incredible playoff journey.
The Whalers playoff run was marked by elite playmaking, defense, and goaltending. The team demonstrated great chemistry and determination, staying consistent and working effectively when it mattered most. Their dedication goes to show that hard work pays off – even as a newly created franchise.
