Georgetown, ON – On Friday, local MPP Joseph Racinsky met with the team at Halton Women’s Place to celebrate the $268,400 Grow grant they received from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The funding was used support a new Rural and Remote Worker position.
“Halton Women’s Place plays an important role in supporting women and families across Halton, and it is great to see this funding helping the organization strengthen services and outreach in our community. This funding will ensure that women in North Halton have better access to the services that Halton Women Place provides,” said Joseph Racinsky, MPP for Wellington—Halton Hills.
The OTF funding will help strengthen the organization’s presence in parts of Halton where access to services can be more challenging, including the growth of its Georgetown satellite office and expanded outreach in North Halton.
“This investment from the Ontario Trillium Foundation has made a meaningful difference in ensuring that women and families across Halton can access safety, support, and resources closer to home, regardless of location,” said Laurie Hepburn, Executive Director of Halton Women’s Place. “We are incredibly grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for investing in more accessible support across our community.”
As Halton Women’s Place continues to grow its outreach, this funding reinforces the organization’s commitment to providing comprehensive services to women and families in both urban and rural areas of Halton, ensuring no one is left without access to critical supports.
Halton Women’s Place is an organization providing shelter and crisis services for physically, emotionally, financially and sexually abused women and their dependent children and is dedicated to ending violence against women and their children. They are the only women’s shelter in the region and answered over 1,300 crisis calls last year alone.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Ontario government with a mission to build healthy and vibrant communities across the province.
