Provincial government delivering two-way, all-day GO train service through Halton Hills
Fergus, ON—The Ontario government is expanding GO Train service along the Kitchener Line, introducing for the first time regular weekend trips through Georgetown and Acton. The improved service will extend beyond Mount Pleasant GO Station to Kitchener, providing residents of Halton Hills with more reliable and convenient travel options to and from the Greater Toronto Area.
“This is great news for commuters in Wellington–Halton Hills and is a critical part of our government’s massive expansion of public transit. This will keep workers on the job and support economic growth,” said Joseph Racinsky, MPP for Wellington–Halton Hills.
The expansion represents a major step forward in improving regional transit connectivity. By increasing weekend service through Halton Hills, the province is strengthening access to employment, education, and recreation opportunities while reducing congestion along key travel routes.

- Ontario has invested over $13.9 billion to deliver two-way, all-day service on GO Transit’s busiest rail routes. Improvements on the Kitchener Line include 5.5 km of new track and infrastructure upgrades to the Bloor, Weston, Malton, Bramalea and Guelph stations.
- The Ontario government has reached an Agreement-in-Principle with CN Rail to purchase 20.9 km of land within the Halton subdivision, and to build critical infrastructure between Bramalea and Kitchener, which will enable enhanced service between Kitchener and Union Station.
- Track work in the Kitchener and Guelph areas has reduced travel times from Kitchener GO to Union Station by an average of 15 minutes.
